What we do

Employee engagement enhances performance

Employee engagement

ETS is an expert in employee engagement delivering employee surveys for a number of large UK and international companies such as ITV, G4S, Thomas Cook and PPG Industries. In the video (right), Sue Pym from security giant G4S talks about their global survey and working with ETS.

We describe employee engagement as: ‘the positive relationship between the employee and the organisation resulting in greater employee involvement, enthusiasm and commitment.’

Why is it important to have an engaged workforce?

Engaged employees demonstrate greater alignment with company goals and values, greater pride in working for the organisation, and improved motivation to ensure company success.

Employee engagement surveys give employees a voice within the company, which helps boost the level of engagement and positively impacts the bottom line, according to a study by Investors in People.

Furthermore, an engaged workforce can also help:

  • Drive better performance – individually and collectively.
  • Increase productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead to enhanced talent retention.
  • Produce better financial results.

The ETS approach

ETS takes a bespoke approach to employee engagement. Here’s an outline of how ETS can help you engage your workforce:

  • We consult with you to create an engagement index, based on the insight that drivers of engagement are unique to each organisation.
  • Our business psychologists and technologists develop an online tool and questionnaire relevant to your context and employees.
  • HR managers and line managers use the online tool to analyse survey results and inform action planning.
  • We help managers interpret results and prioritise actions, conducting key driver and linkage analyses and focus groups.

We help companies achieve great results either by devising and implementing a new engagement programme from the ground up or by improving your existing programme.

Prioritise action planning

An area of employee engagement many companies report problems with is maintaining momentum on action plans. Our original HR insight paper – How to maximise survey success through action planning – gives companies practical tips on how to approach action planning on survey results.

And in this video (right), ETS business psychologist Samantha Arnold offers some advice on action planning.

The MacLeod Review: ‘Engaging for Success’

Speaking at the ETS engagement conference, David MacLeod, co-author of The MacLeod Review: ‘Engaging for Success’, described engagement as: “the need for organisations to get the most out of every individual.” In the video (right), MacLeod talks about companies unlocking “more of the potential in all of us” and talked of the many business benefits of an engaged workforce.
